It's Millen Time!

June 2002

What does Dan Millen and Team Livernois do for the rest of the 2002 season?  If WFC was any indication of what the future holds, how about kickin’ ass & taking names!  Last season, some starting line issues got Millen and the boys from Livernois off to a slow start but, they made quite a comeback and clinched the 2001 NMRA Championship, setting several records in both FFW and NMRA.  Though, Millen had a rough ride during the fabrication of the new car due to some adjustments and maneuvering around unforeseen inconsistencies with rule changes last year, he stayed focused and was determined to build a state of the art Super Street Outlaw car with the versatility to cross over as many series as possible for 2002.  It looks like he did it and how! Even though he missed several races waiting the arrival of his new super sweet ride, it was well worth the wait.

Dan and crew trucked to St. Louis dead tired from pulling several all-nighters testing and tuning.  They were skeptical about making the WFC with only a few hits on the car and some issues to work out.  The team was a little discouraged after a few decent yet less than impressive runs Saturday during qualifying.  Millen was hoping to make a statement with this car straight out of the trailer, and it didn’t look like that was going to happen at least at WFC. Nevertheless, at 2:00 a.m. early Sunday morning the trailer lights were still on and they were still wrenching.  The crew’s determination seemed to have paid off for Sunday’s eliminations. Between a few competitor mishaps and kicking out some respectable runs, things were definitely looking up.  But, who would have ever thought…

Well, we all know anything can happen in racing.  And, it damn sure did! The rest is now WFC 5 History.  So, now that the check has cleared, what does it feel like to debut a brand new car in front of a record setting crowd, at the biggest Ford race of the year and take the win over none other than the legendary Mr. Bob Glidden??? There’s only one person you can ask.

Congratulations to Mr. Millen, Livernois Motorsports and Crew!

Look for a feature article on Dan Millen's new SS/O car in the near future!
