HC50: Personal Info: Name, location, age, make, model, year
of car, etc.
Larry Geddes, Barnesville, Ohio, 51 years old,
which I find it hard to believe sometimes!
90 Mustang 302/347 (depending) Jerico 4 speed.
"real race cars have three pedals". I couldn't resist that!
HC50: How long have you
been drag racing? How did you get your start?
Started drag racing/street racing in 1970. Yes,
street racing WAS a real rush. I eventually came to my senses
about street racing and stopped doing it. I still watched and
flagged quite a few races on the street. My biggest fear was not
so much the law, etc, but the fear of having my car impounded.
Think about the wrecker dragging your best car away and dropping
it in the mud in some lot!
HC50: What's been the
biggest challenge to your racing program?
Going rounds in Open Comp. We must also remember the financial side of this
disease that we are inflicted with.
HC50: What would you
consider you biggest accomplishment as a racer?
Winning Open Comp at WFC in 1998 was big for me. Securing
Denso as a sponsor in 2002 was a great feeling,
also.
HC50: What's gotten you
hooked on the Mustang drag racing scene?
It has been in my blood ever since I ran my 1965 Mustang at National Trail
Raceway in the Spring of 1970.

HC50: What are your plans
for the future?
Continue running as much Open Comp as I can in the NMRA and Pro. I
must figure out an engine combo for 2003 as I am running a borrowed engine
currently. (From Dave Lanman)
HC50:
What changes, if any, do you feel the sanctioning bodies need
to make in order for our sport to prosper?
I think that the NMRA and PRO are on the right track for the future. It
takes time.
HC50: Who are your biggest
friends (or enemies) at the track? Who do you fear having to see
at the starting line?
I am fortunate to be surrounded by so many good competitors,
and friends in our organizations.
No fears at the starting line, just the knowledge that at any
given time a competitor can put a great package together against
me.

HC50: Any other
pertinent info? (sponsors you'd like to thank, wives you HAVE to
thank, other things not mentioned you feel are important)
My wife has been very patient and supportive of my racing through
this difficult season(2002). I really appreciate her. I want
to thank Denso for their support and help also.
Larry, thanks for your time, and
we hope to see you at the races!
