| Questions |
|
How long have you been drag racing? Competitively since 1998
How did you get your start? A buddy of mine had a 1980 Camaro and I
helped build it. When it was done, it was a blast. I knew I wanted to go
fast after that.
What’s been the biggest challenge to your racing program this season?
The drive. I've been getting extremely burned out on the driving to and
from the races.
Compared to last season?
Same…
What would you consider
your biggest accomplishments as a racer? Having an article published
in Mustang 5.0 magazine that was a day in the life of a renegade racer
featuring Chip and myself.
What’s gotten you hooked
on the Mustang drag racing scene? The friendships and the need for
speed.
What are your plans for the future? To win the 2003 NMRA Renegade
championship and repeat as WFC champion.
What changes, if any, do you feel the sanctioning bodies need to make
in order for our sport to prosper? Get REAL TV coverage and listen to
the racers.
Who are your biggest friends (or enemies) at the track? My biggest
enemy is the racer in the other lane.. I have so many close relationships
at the track; I couldn’t single out 1 friendship.. They know who they
are..
Who do you fear having to see at the starting line? No one.. I LOVE
a great race… I like being the underdog.
Why? Because it is not expected of me to win.. When I am nervous
at the line, I will cut my best lights.. I knew that Jimmy was quicker
than me most of the year, but we went 2-2 against him… The 2 times I lost,
I had mechanical issues.
What would you tell someone looking to start out in the heads-up racing
scene? Don’t do it… it becomes a full time job.
Very briefly, tell us the dumbest mistake you’ve ever made at a
racetrack? I can’t remember one of mine, but I will tell you
about Chip’s dumbest mistake… His first time @ the track he had a radar
detector in his car and it went off. He slammed on the brakes and stopped
dead in the quarter mile.. After a few moments, he remembered he was
allowed to speed.. Ask him to tell you the story sometime, its funny as
hell.
Anyone you’d like to thank, wives you HAVE to thank, other things not
mentioned you feel are important? Definitely want to thank the wifey…
She is the most important thing in my life. Also, would like to thanks
Brian Kittleson, Hutch, and Rich for the killer paint and bodywork on the
car.. I would also like to thank Crazy Eddie and Ralphie Wiggum for the
help thrashing on the car many late nights.
What music do you listen to? Anything on the radio
Who’s your favorite? Favorite what?
Any nick names for you? Flyin Hawaiian, Chainsaw, CB, Billybob
Who gave it to you? Why? Flyin Hawaiian was given to me
from Jamie Meyer and Carlo Catalanotto… Chainsaw from Ricky Best (cuz I
cut the tree down)… CB is short for Cheatin Bob thanks to Mike Murillo..
and Billybob was from my southern buddy Alan Kennedy.
Do you have any pets? Ferrets and birds Kids? soon
What do you like to do as a hobby outside of drag racing? Golf..
What track do you dislike the most? Orlando… it’s a freakin beach
and the track sucks
Which is your favorite track to race on? Byron Dragway…. Its my
home away from home.. and it hooks like a mutha always..
Do you have a lucky charm? no
If you could meet anybody you wanted living or not who would it be?
No one…
