Questions

How long have you been drag racing?  Since I was 16

How did you get your start?  89 Mustang LX 5.0

What’s been the biggest challenge to your racing program this season?  Compared to last season?  Getting the rules changed in Drag Radial (in NMRA) to make it more of a level playing field. Once this happened making the change from a NOVI 2000 to an X-Trim and tuning the new power without blowing the tires off it.

What would you consider your biggest accomplishments as a racer?  Not giving up when you get into a slump and they seem to last a season when they come. Also helping racers who are starting out and the ones I race with.

What’s gotten you hooked on the Mustang drag racing scene?  Since I've had a mustang since high school and loved to street race its hard to stop. So now that I'm older and don't street race anymore, going to events meeting new people and you cant forget there's nothing like heads up racing.

What are your plans for the future?  First things first to win a NMRA race and then go on to win the series.

What changes, if any, do you feel the sanctioning bodies need to make in order for our sport to prosper?  Just listen to the racers and their input because without them its over. Cant forget more TV coverage.

Who are your biggest friends (or enemies) at the track?  I really don't have enemies at the track yet.

Who do you fear having to see at the starting line?  Why?  No one because that's the attitude you must have to win.

What would you tell someone looking to start out in the heads-up racing scene?  Make sure you have a realistic budget to spend because I've seen lots of people and friends that start to do it and stop 3/4 the way threw and quit. I hate to see that happen. So stick with 1 class and build to it.

Very briefly, tell me the dumbest mistake you've ever made at the race track?  Forgot to put the bolt back into the blower after a pulley change. I lost the belt, pulley and the round.

Anyone you’d like to thank, wives you HAVE to thank, other things not mentioned you feel are important?  First I must thank my wife for putting up with the habit, my father for all the help and my crew chief Shane Jennings for always being there because it does take 2 people to race a car like mine.

What music do you listen to?  Who’s your favorite?  Heavy metal. I don't have a favorite it would be to many to list but as long as its loud.

Any nick names for you?  Well chip is a nickname my real name is Frank but my wife wont call me by that name so I have to hold on to it for awhile. My parents gave it to me because I was a Jr. and I guess it was easier then saying frank and getting 2 responses.

Do you have any pets?  None

Do you have Kids?  Yes 2 girls 6 and 13 months but I think the youngest will be the next driver for me in about 17 years.

What do you like to do as a hobby outside of drag racing?  You mean there's something else besides racing?

What track do you dislike the most?  In MD, it's Capitol Raceway - always way too many people.

Which is your favorite track to race on?  I would say Joliet only raced there once but man what a place.

Do you have a lucky charm?  What is it?  Well its hard to believe but not waxing my car. Every time I do, it's a disaster, so I don't wash it and it always runs its best.

If you could meet anybody you wanted living or not who would it be?  Why?  I really cant think of anyone.

Additional Comments:  I'm going through some changes before Bowling Green. I'm putting on a Reichard Racing intake and intercooler so I can improve on my best performances and be looking for that first NMRA win.
