Questions

How long have you been drag racing?  4 Years

How did you get your start?  I started into heads up street racing in 1993 with Jim Huber at Memphis shootout, since then I've been to every NMCA/NSCA race possible.

What’s been the biggest challenge to your racing program this season?  Compared to last season?  My problem this season is money.  I just bought a new home and the way gas prices are it'll be a tough 2003 season to survive. the payout is still not very good.

What would you consider your biggest accomplishments as a racer?  I'd say just making it to the races, a lot of guys just sit home and cry about rules and such, I build my car to the rules and go racing. it takes a huge commitment to make all the PRO and NMCA races.

What’s gotten you hooked on the Mustang drag racing scene?  I'm hooked because its heads up racing, Bracket racing sucks!!  It's the only racing where you can lose for going to fast. (never understood that)

What are your plans for the future?  I'm just going to try and keep racing where I am now, maybe in 2004 I'll get some new heads and race in FFW.

What changes, if any, do you feel the sanctioning bodies need to make in order for our sport to prosper?  Make it more worth while for the racers to come to events

Who are your biggest friends (or enemies) at the track?  Anybody that shows up to a race is my friend.  A lot of internet racers just don't realize how much time and money it takes just to get to the races.  My only enemy is myself.

Who do you fear having to see at the starting line?  Why?  Tony Orts!!!!  That guys crashes a lot!!  He is a danger to everyone.  I saw him crash 3 times last year.

What would you tell someone looking to start out in the heads-up racing scene?  Start out just helping someone at the races, see what's involved and then make a commitment to a class, and see what happens.

Very briefly, tell me the dumbest mistake you've ever made at the race track?  Gee..... I have so many.....I guess it would be redlighting against Dwayne Gutridge in Orlando.  I had a .437 light!! which is awesome, but for some dumb reason that race is a 5 tenths tree.

Anyone you’d like to thank, wives you HAVE to thank, other things not mentioned you feel are important?  I have got to thank my crew chief/ fiancé, Kim. she goes to all the races with me and does a great job at the races.

What music do you listen to?  Who’s your favorite?  I listen to old rock and country. Ozzy, AC/DC, Kid Rock

Any nick names for you?  Rudy, because of my last name.  Rude-as-Hell, because of my last name

Do you have any pets?  I just got a 8 week old yellow lab. her name is "Kinky".  She will be my assistant crew chief at all the events in 2003

Do you have Kids?  I have one 10 year old daughter

What do you like to do as a hobby outside of drag racing?  Boating, Fishing, Skiing.

What track do you dislike the most?  Atlanta.... I either do bad there or it rains.

Which is your favorite track to race on?  Norwalk.  That track is the nicest around, plus $1.00 ice creams

Do you have a lucky charm?  What is it?  Kim, my fiancé

If you could meet anybody you wanted living or not who would it be?  Why?  My grandpa.....he passed away when I was 10 and he taught me soooo much. I could learn so much more from him.

Additional Comments:  I'd like to thank all the racers and fans who come to the races and support the race series of choice, without them there would be no race. I'd also like to thank Hardcore 50 for the awesome site they provide
