Questions

How long have you been drag racing?  Since I was about 16

How did you get your start?  My first ride was a Jeep. I flipped it, so I bought an 83 Mustang and it just progressed from there.

What’s been the biggest challenge to your racing program this season?  Compared to last season?  Scraping up enough gas money to get to the races.

What would you consider your biggest accomplishments as a racer?  Cutting good lights in the semis or finals when it counted the most

What’s gotten you hooked on the Mustang drag racing scene?  Just being competitive and my friends that I race with

What are your plans for the future?  To find a job that pays twice what i make right now but only requires me to work Monday through Wednesday.

What changes, if any, do you feel the sanctioning bodies need to make in order for our sport to prosper?  Just to accommodate the racer, even if its a slower class.

Who are your biggest friends (or enemies) at the track?  Mark Daniel and Andy Heinz have been right there since the first race loaning me stuff and helping out, but really everyone in my class is good to race with

Who do you fear having to see at the starting line?  Why?  At the big races, I take everyone serious, anything can happen.  At my home track I hate to line up with Russell Stone cause I'm always afraid he's gonna run into me.

What would you tell someone looking to start out in the heads-up racing scene?  First, pick the class you think you wanna run.  Figure the cost to build a competitive car, motor, trans, ect. then add about 30% to that cause it probably isn't enough.  Then tell your wife/girlfriend ahead of time what you're gonna spend to build a car, but assure her that you will win races (ha).  If she doesn't storm out of the room or laugh, tell her that after the initial expense you will also continue to spend most of your time and money trying to win.  And finally, that you will need a dually and an enclosed trailer. depending on her reaction, you may have to switch classes, or girlfriends.

Very briefly, tell me the dumbest mistake you've ever made at the race track?  Winning a tough round, then passing the scales and getting DQ'd

Anyone you’d like to thank, wives you HAVE to thank, other things not mentioned you feel are important?  my wife Leslie, Monty my engine builder, Jim Averill and the guys at Tremec, and Walt at Pro-Motion.  I couldn't come out and race without there help.

What music do you listen to?  Who’s your favorite?  Tool, Alice, Old Metallica, Old Ozzy, Type-O, anything heavy

Any nick names for you?  None

Do you have any pets?  Not anymore

Do you have Kids?  Jody - 11 year old son,  Hannah - 3 year old daughter

What do you like to do as a hobby outside of drag racing?  Wakeboard (but I suck at it)

What track do you dislike the most?  Reading and ATCO because it's 3000 miles out there and back from my house.

Which is your favorite track to race on?  Joliet

Do you have a lucky charm?  What is it?  A little cross carved from elephant tusk, a friend of mine brought it back from Africa

If you could meet anybody you wanted living or not who would it be?  Why?  Can't think of any
