How long have you been drag racing?
16 years
How did you get your start? I started racing motorcycles
in the 80's on the street scene and quickly moved to the organized
racing scene where we ran low 8's and high 7's using nitrous.
What’s been the biggest challenge to your racing program this season?
Compared to last season? Last season was easy, we turned
my street car into an SS/O car, went to the first race in Florida and
got taken out by the other car from New Mexico. I realized that it was
going to take a real race car to compete in SS/O, so we started all
over again for this season and built the 25.1c blower car. The biggest
challenge will be starting all over again.
What would you consider your biggest accomplishments as a racer?
I don't know about accomplishments, but staying around and wanting to
play has to count for something.
What’s gotten you hooked on the Mustang drag racing scene?
The energy of the people in this scene.
What are your plans for the future? Race SS/O, help Urist
Racing become one of the premier shops in the Country and have a damn
good time.
What changes, if any, do you feel the sanctioning bodies need to make
in order for our sport to prosper? Don't change
anything...that's the point.
Who are your biggest friends (or enemies) at the track?
I'm still on the outside looking in. The friends I have made are
great.
Who do you fear having to see at the starting line? Why?
I guess the standard answer here would be no one because I am the
best. Truth is everyone, unless I am on a bye run.
What would you tell someone looking to start out in the heads-up
racing scene? Money...bring lots of it
Very briefly, tell me the dumbest
mistake you've ever made at the race track? The list is very
long...come by my trailer after qualifying grab a beer and I'll tell
you lot's of stories!
Anyone you’d like to thank, wives you HAVE to thank, other things not
mentioned you feel are important? Of course the wife and
kid. My parents for hauling my car around. The Urist Racing group,
which is a very long list of people.
What music do you listen to? Who’s your favorite?
Country to Heavy Metal...Favorite would be Motley Crue
Any nick names for you? John D"wayne"...A friend from
France...I shoot at everything including him

What do you like to do as a hobby outside of drag racing?
I like to build anything
What track do you dislike the most? It's not used by many
people on this site but LA County Raceway.
Which is your favorite track to race on? Texas Motorplex

If you could meet anybody you wanted living or not who would it be? Why?
Billy the Kid....I've always wanted to know him.
