How long have you been drag racing?
Since I was 18 in 1998
How did you get your start? Wanted a mustang. Got
one, it wasn't fast enough. I was bit by the bug, and it still
hasn't gone away.
What’s been the biggest challenge to your racing program this season? Compared to last season?
The power is there, now the biggest obstacle will be planting it onto
the pavement.
What would you consider your biggest accomplishments as a racer?
Being able to say that I built the motor in my car and watching it
hold up to the abuse and make the power it has made.
What’s gotten you hooked on the Mustang drag racing scene?
The people. The tight competition. The adrenaline and
excitement. My blood has always run Ford blue.
What are your plans for the future? I want to set the
record on a drag radial! Outlaw on street tires!!!!
Eventually, I'd like to Pilot a PRO car, but my next step will be
Outlaw.
What changes, if any, do you feel the sanctioning bodies need to make
in order for our sport to prosper? Try to get away from the
politics and the greed and start listening to the racer. Without
the hard work that each of them puts out, there would be no show, no
fans.
Who are your biggest friends (or enemies) at the track? I
surely hope that I don't have any "enemies", but for 1320 ft... don't
take the ass whipping personally
Who do you fear having to see at the starting line? Why?
I really don't fear anyone. I run my race at every event.
I do my best regardless, and really am not affected by who is next to
me. Its just me, the tree, and 8 seconds of the best adrenaline
rush you can get.
What would you tell someone looking to start out in the heads-up
racing scene? Research what you want to do first. Have
a game plan, then give it your all! Don't be intimidated, we all start
somewhere.
Very briefly, tell me the dumbest
mistake you've ever made at the race track? Letting my crew
chief run over and break my foot at the season opener in 2002.
Anyone you’d like to thank, wives you HAVE to thank, other things not
mentioned you feel are important? Wives I have to thank???
Ummm, NO. But, I would like to thank Dennis for everything that he's
taught me, Dan Parker for his support, my family for
believing in me, and all the crazy nuts that I call my crew for their
long hours and lively entertainment.
What music do you listen to? Who’s your favorite? I
listen to everything... From country to rock and everything in
between. My all time favorite song is Candlebox "Far Behind" and
the candlelight version of "Heaven" by DJ Sammy and Do
Any nick names for you? Princess has always kinda
followed me around... so when my car had a Novi 2000, "Paxton
Princess" was very fitting. Once I went turbo, that became
obsolete, and from there it became "Power Adder Princess", "Radial
Princess", or even "Lumberjack Princess" from my off roading
experience at the top end one night.
Do you have any pets? My baby chihuahua, Trixie.
(Named after Speed Racer's girlfriend)
Do you have Kids?
None
What do you like to do as a hobby outside of drag racing?
Is there life outside drag racing? I love Volleyball, inline
skating, basketball, anything that keeps me on the go.
What track do you dislike the most? I don't care to
comment on this one... I might jinx myself.
Which is your favorite track to race on? Tough choice,
but I think that Gainesville would be my pick.
Do you have a lucky charm? What is it? Can't
comment on that one.... :)
If you could meet anybody you wanted living or not who would it be? Why?
Through Dennis and a lot of other people, I've heard so much about
Jason Betwarda and how much of a great and funny person he was.
I would have loved to have had the chance to meet him.
Comments: I'm glad to be
involved in such a great community of people. I have never seen
the devotion and spirit that every racers shows anywhere else.
