Questions

How long have you been drag racing?  Since early 90's with a Chevy Camaro. Since 97 with Mustangs

How did you get your start?  Father and step father both did racing in town. Like Father like son. Started street racing in 90 and did well. Won several local street car shootouts. Me and my brother went to Bristol FFW 96 and won T/S first time out and then we were hooked.

What’s been the biggest challenge to your racing program this season? Compared to last Season?  Finding the right cam. I tried 8 different cams in 2002 and none would turn any RRR's until I installed a Anderson Ford Motorsport Hi-Rev camshaft. First race with it, I set a new record.

What would you consider your biggest accomplishments as a racer?  Being a Sportsman. Helping everyone and anyone who needs my help.

What’s gotten you hooked on the Mustang drag racing scene?  The popularity. Everybody who owned one thought they were fast and I own the fastest one in town. There's always someone faster, but it nice to know with the limitations that I run with (class specs) that I can outrun almost all the Mustangs in town, no matter what size engine their running.

What are your plans for the future?  To win the 2003 Championship in Pure Street again. I would like to be the first 2 time winner of the class.

What changes, if any, do you feel the sanctioning bodies need to make in order for our sport to prosper?  Changes are not a necessity. The more we change the less people are interested in staying in the classes. If we'd just leave things alone for a while, more racers will come out eventually.  Nobody likes spending money every year on stuff just because the rules changed.  They would rather spend money on refining their combo.

Who are your biggest friends (or enemies) at the track?  No enemies (I think), But all the guys in Pure Street are very helpful and I do consider them my friends. As far as the best friends, I would have to say my brother Robert and Gabe Large.

Who do you fear having to see at the starting line?  Why?  No one. I run my own race every pass. If someone is next to me then fine. I just adjust my reaction time.

What would you tell someone looking to start out in the heads-up racing scene?  Think about it first, it's expensive and addictive. You can't stop once you start.

Very briefly, tell us the dumbest mistake you’ve ever made at a racetrack?  Redlighted. No one can redlight unless they guess. I was slower than several cars a few years ago and I would guess on the light some. Stupid is as stupid does.

Anyone you’d like to thank, wives you HAVE to thank, other things not mentioned you feel are important?  My Sponsors, along with Gabe Large, My brother Robert Hindman, My long time crew chief April Nolan, Steve Swafford of S&S Racing in Niota, TN.  Mike Wesley of Autologic.

What music do you listen to?  Who is your favorite?  Bluegrass. Allison Krauss and Union Station

Any nick names for you?  Who gave it to you?   Why?  Mr. 10 Second is the only one I can think of. NMRA race pages gave it to me when I was the only one running tens consistently. I was the only racer in Pure Street to run 10's at every race this season.

Kids?  Not that I'm aware of. lol

Pets?  Nope

What do you like to do as a hobby outside of drag racing?  Working on everybody else mustangs is my main hobby I guess. I like selling parts for them also.

What track do you dislike the most?  Which ever one is the furthest away.

Which is your favorite track to race on?  Bowling Green has to the best track to run on for me.

Do you have a lucky charm?  My denim hat. Looks like something that Gilligan would wear.

If you could meet anybody you wanted living or not who would it be?  That kind of stuff doesn't really interest me. No one in particular, unless I had a chance at something.
