Racing Accomplishments

Runner up 1st race I ever raced an outlaw car in 2001 against Gary Rohe I smoked the tires off the line the rest is history. Went on in 2001 to win 6 out of the 9 races I entered and runner upped 2 of them and went the semi's in the other which was the BG race (first race for me in SS/O) . This past yr(2002)I had planned on not racing just didn't have the time and was too busy @ the shop and @ home (newborn was coming in July) so I figured I had to set back for the season. Got a call in April good Friend of mine was planning on selling his 90 SS/O coupe that we had built for him back in 99 because he was having twin girls soon. So after the Columbus NMRA race I told him to bring it over I'd take the car, so I got it the next weekend and started from there. Got the car out end of July. First race I ran a OSCA event went 2 rounds (first pass ever down track though car went a 5.32@135). I ended up winning the next event and going on the win the points championship this yr in modified Street (which is same rules as SS/O).

Questions

How long have you been drag racing?  Since I was 16 isn't that when we all started street racing? :)

How did you get your start?  Getting my drivers license

What’s been the biggest challenge to your racing program this season?  Compared to last season?  Having 2 kids in 2 yrs by 2 different girls

What would you consider your biggest accomplishments as a racer?  Getting to prove what I preach.

What’s gotten you hooked on the Mustang drag racing scene?  Knowing if you want to have fun and try to make a living doing it there was no other choice.

What are your plans for the future?  Right now I'm getting ready to build a new shop and once we are settled in my plans in 2004 are to build a 2003-4 mustang Super Street/Outlaw 10.5 car.

What changes, if any, do you feel the sanctioning bodies need to make in order for our sport to prosper?  Help get more sponsorships I know first hand there are a few class's that need help it cost as much I know to build a car like mine as it does to build a PRO car

Who are your biggest friends (or enemies) at the track?  Everyone is my friend because I hope to have them all as a customer one day :)

Who do you fear having to see at the starting line?  Why?  I don't fear anyone I love to see who can cut lights.

What would you tell someone looking to start out in the heads-up racing scene?  Get a good job and plan on spending more money than you can imagine because every yr it gets harder to win

Very briefly, tell me the dumbest mistake you've ever made at the race track?  First time I ran a NMRA race, back in '99, I tried to do a burnout but the converter was so tight -- the car wouldn't spin the tires after about 3 times of going forward then backwards.  I gave up and went ahead and staged, went down the track, everything felt good,  figure ok first pass, better take it easy and lift @ the 1/8th mile marker.  Good thing, cause when I went to turn on the return road all hell broke loose the freakin front wheels feel off the car.

Anyone you’d like to thank, wives you HAVE to thank, other things not mentioned you feel are important?  First I have to thank Vernon House if it wasn't for him I would have had to give up by now I'd think, he's been there from the best to the worst.  2nd, Jimmy Graham, and all the guys that I get to race with, there's just too many.

What music do you listen to?  Who’s your favorite?  I listen to about anything no favorites

Any nick names for you?  I've got a few.  Weasel is what most of my friends called me since I was about 12yrs old (wouldn't ever know why).  On the PC, I've always been called Nitrous boy, or as Jamie Myers calls it, Nyy-trous boy.  I got the name back in 98, when I went by N20 and Jim Summers always called my nyy---trousboy every time I called him so that's how that came about.

Do you have any pets?  Just my Girlfriend.. kidding.. lol

Do you have Kids?  Yes, 2, girl, 22 months (Ashlie), boy, 5 months (Jayden)

What do you like to do as a hobby outside of drag racing?  Is there anything outside of this? No one has ever let me know

What track do you dislike the most?  Ones that are easy to get down

Which is your favorite track to race on?  Jackson TN

Do you have a lucky charm?  What is it?  Nope

If you could meet anybody you wanted living or not who would it be?  Why?  My grandfather (Smith) he died 5 months before I was born and I just always wondered of he was the one that gave all his kids this insane racing blood.
