Questions

How long have you been drag racing?  15 Years

How did you get your start?  My dad used to race he got me interested in drag racing my mustang was my high school driver so of course it all started on the streets and evolved to semi pro racing

What’s been the biggest challenge to your racing program this season?  Compared to last season?  We built a complete new engine so everything is new, but I would probably say that getting the second nitrous system to work without hurting anything has been our biggest challenge.

What would you consider your biggest accomplishments as a racer?  Well, I had my 15 minutes in the sun back in the late 90's, but probably my biggest accomplishment as a racer was getting through the bad times and staying with it and not giving up.

What’s gotten you hooked on the Mustang drag racing scene?  I was fortunate to have my father grow up in the muscle car era and he's a ford guy, so I guess that's what got me hooked, and also all the great contributors and pioneers of the sport that made it what it is today.

What are your plans for the future?  I'd like to win a few super street outlaw events and then possibly step up to pro 5.0 if the opportunity presents itself.

What changes, if any, do you feel the sanctioning bodies need to make in order for our sport to prosper?  I enjoy racing in the NMRA, but they need to work on there attitudes a bit, and the racers should be treated with a little more respect.  I think the directors of the NMRA better take a step back and never forget how they got there jobs and the people who helped get them there and made this the great sport that it is today.  They are losing more and more key people to other organizations because of their bad attitudes.

Who are your biggest friends (or enemies) at the track?  DiBiagio Brothers, Sorby Brothers to name a few of my good friends, but there are too many others to list as for enemies.  I don't like phonies and backstabbers and there is a few out there that think they are better than everybody.

Who do you fear having to see at the starting line?  Why?  Nobody

What would you tell someone looking to start out in the heads-up racing scene?  Pick a class that can fit your budget, they are all fun and just as competitive

Very briefly, tell me the dumbest mistake you've ever made at the race track?  Forgetting to turn on my nitrous bottles

Anyone you’d like to thank, wives you HAVE to thank, other things not mentioned you feel are important?  I'd like to thank my wife for putting up with me, lol, all my good friends and crew that stuck with me through thick and thin that have been a great part of my life thus far.

What music do you listen to?  Who’s your favorite?  I am an 80's freak and anything from the Miami Vice era is cool in Lou Proto's Almanac!  But, I also like golden oldies, disco, and new club music

Any nick names for you?  Lou "Hothead" Proto my buddies call me for obvious reasons "swing first and worry about the consequences later"

Do you have any pets?  Yes, 3 cats

Do you have Kids?  Not yet

What do you like to do as a hobby outside of drag racing?  Collecting celebrity and movie memorabilia

What track do you dislike the most?  N/A

Which is your favorite track to race on?  ATCO or Englishtown

Do you have a lucky charm?  What is it?  No

If you could meet anybody you wanted living or not who would it be?  Why?  Too many too list no one person in particular

Additional Comments:  I hate Yuppies!
