IN A SSO CAR WOULD YOU RUN A 8.8 OR A 9''

Without a doubt, a true Ford 9" or a fabricated 9" would be my choice.. Done right, they are virtually bullet-proof, and especially in a stick car.

9-inch all the way. Stick cars put great force on rears. 8.8's will twist apart if you do not weld them. They also bend. Fabed rear or back bracing can not be done to a 8.8.

A 9" is definitely the way to go,, I may cost you a pretty penny though,, In the new MM&FF they do an 8.8 buildup from Mark Williams in Colorado,,, they did not say how much it costed though,,,, I guess,, if you want strengh and reliability spend the extra money and go for the 9"....Bee

I'll guarentee you, if it's Mark William's stuff.. it's bulletproof! My next rear will be a Mark Williams 9" for my 86'.. I like Strange, but I like Mark Williams and Summers Brothers (Chevy stuff) better..

I agree,, they have a really good reputation, and a nice looking product, I am moving to Colorado in June,, so I will stop by their place and see what they can do for me,, My rear is in some serious need of a rebuild/upgrade,,,, Bee

Mark Williams is the $h*t. But very expensive. But thats the cost for the strongest axles in the industry. I was thinking of geting one of there rears so I'll be set with something industructable for future mods. If you want a complete rear from them watch out the charge like upto $400 for Richmond gears you can get thier gears cheaper but Richmond is the way to go if you plan on being in the 9's. You should see the prices in thier catalogue they will shock you. They tax you hard for thier name.

I WAS LOOKING AT THE 9'' THAT HOLCOMB MOTORSPORTS HAS IT. IT COMES WITH 9'' HOUSING, MOSER FORGED STEEL AXLES AND BEARINGS FOR $700 WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THIS SET UP.

$700 is a rip off for that setup. I see them for sale locally for $500. I never heard anything bad about them. But then again I haven't heard anything about how great they are. If you can find it cheaper it probly would be worth the cost. $600 - 650 seems to be the going cost in the magazines last time I looked.

I would personally get one out of a lincoln mark 8. They came stock with a 9" rear. If money is an issue that would be the way to go, and if its your own car money is always an issue. You should be able to run an 8.8 in your car without much trouble. I run one in my car with stock axles and have not had problems as of yet. I would run the 8.8 until it broke and then I would worry about replacing it. But that is just my opinion.

Lincoln Mark 8 came with an IRS 8.8... last Lincoln to have a 9" was the early 80's town cars, and they have real weak centersecions....

I think you will have no problem with a 8.8 in your car if it is built rite. I think my problem was with a hard hitting clutch and a stiff car with a good slicks. I am changing all that stuff for this season. I have to buy a new housing so I am going with the 9-inch with all the goodies. I want somthing bulletproof! Prostock style.
